Hearts and Poms Hat
A great way to try your hand at fair isle, or to improve your skills, this hat utilizes two colors of worsted weight yarn to create a subtle heart design. We used a cashmere blend in a solid and a speckle dye for a spectacular effect. In this class you'll learn how to carry your yarn at the right tension, what to do about long floats, and so much more.
PREREQUISITES
Proficiency in basic knitting skills: knit, purl, cast on, bind off, increase and decrease.| Materials Included: | None |
| Requirements: | PRE-WORK With MC and smaller needle, cast on 96 (108, 120, 132) sts. Join to work in the round being careful not to twist, placing beginning of round marker. Round 1: K1, *p2, k2; rep from * to last 3 sts, p2, k1. Rep round 1 until work measures 2¾ (3, 3¼, 3½) inches from cast on edge. Next Round: knit around GAUGE: 22 stitches = 4 inches in Stockinette Stitch after blocking SUPPLIES PATTERN: Available at class: $4.95 plus printing fee YARN: worsted weight yarn in two colors, 200 yards each NEEDLES: US 6 & 7, 16 inch circular needles and US 7 DPNs Stitch markers Please bring these additional tools: Knitting gauge, scissors, tape measure, paper & pen for note taking if desired, tapestry needle (preferably bent tip). |
